New Years Day Flyout

By Firefighter Nichole Collins
January 1, 2010

At around 1730 hours on January 1st, Medic 511 and Ambulance 511 were dispatched for an assault in progress. Engine 511 and Battalion 501 (Asst Chief Martin) were added to the call shortly after the departure of the Medic and Ambulance. EMS 511 units staged until police secured the scene. Upon arrival to the scene they were escorted to a female laying in the grass who had been stabbed in excess of 20 times. Engine 511 was placed in charge of setting up the landing zone (LZ) at Stonewall Middle School for the helicopter. AirCare landed and lifted off safely. With quick and decisive actions along with good communication of all crew members this tentative call went very smooth.

Units: M511, A511, E511, BC501
Mutual Aid: AirCare
