The department's membership were gathered in Gregson Hall when the alarms sounded just after 8 pm for a truck fire in the 8600 block of Bethlehem Road. The column of smoke from the fire could be seen from Sudley Manor at Sudley Road. Upon arrival Engine 511's officer in charge notified communications that we actually had a boat on a trailer about 30 feet from a house that was fully engulfed in fire. The boat's full fuel tank made for a challenging fire to but with plenty of water from Engine 525 on the hydrant the fire was eventually extinguished. With the help of FF Ambrosini (E511) the Fire Marshall was able to communicate with the owner and eventually determine the fire to be accidental. Unfortunately the boat appears to be destined for Davy Jones' Locker. After about 2 1/2 hours all units were clear from the scene.
Units:
