The Stonewall Jackson Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, based just north of Manassas, VA, has proudly served the citizens of Prince William County since April 1971. The department is dedicated to the preservation of life and property through education, quality emergency medical care, and effective fire suppression and hazard mitigation.

2nd Alarm Plus HAZMAT

JANUARY 23 - Just two days after recounting tales of two-alarm fires in 2011 at our annual Installation Banquet, volunteers from Stonewall Jackson once again found themselves challenged by a two-alarm fire, this time complicated by hazardous materials and dangerous machinery.

Like Looking for a Needle in a Haystack

DECEMBER 11 - 11 December 2011. It was almost noon on a Sunday. Crew A was on weekend duty. It had been a fairly uneventful weekend; that was until Engine 511 and Ambulance 511 are dispatched to the Manassas National Battlefield Park to an injury for a rider that fell off of a horse.

A Couple of Hours Later and it Could Have Had a Different Outcome

DECEMBER 09 - 9 December 2011. Friday night duty crew had barely started when Truck 511 along with Engine 525 was dispatched to the Golden Corral Restaurant for an unknown electrical odor. Engine 511 was still on a call setting up a helicopter landing zone to transport a victim of a stabbing.

NOVEMBER 20 - At 1512 Communications struck Box 1114 for a reported townhouse fire on Cub Run Court. Units from Stonewall, Manassas, Bristow, Manassas Park, and Yorkshire were dispatched.

E511B and BC501Y arrived with smoke showing from the front door an eaves of a middle row 2-story townhouse plus basement. BC501Y established command.

2nd Alarm on Woodbury

OCTOBER 16 - At 0710, Boxx 1156 was stuck for a reported apartment fire on Woodbury Drive. Units from Stonewall, Manassas, Bristow, Manassas park, and Yorkshire were dispatched. Dispatch reported smoke from a bedroom.

Engine Officer-in-Training takes Command on an Auto Accident with Entrapment

SEPTEMBER 24 - The Friday Night / E Crew members were in the middle of shift change when the station tones dropped around 0806 hrs for a BLS Auto Accident on Balls Ford Rd at Mason King Ct. PWC Communications reported that a vehicle had rear ended a semi tractor trailer and that the occupant of the car was having a medical emergency.

SEPTEMBER 04 - E511B was dispatched in the late afternoon hours for a vehicle fire on Interstate 66. While responding, Prince William communications reported multiple calls for a fully involved vehicle fire. E511B arrived on scene, confirmed all occupants were out of the vehicle and prepared to extinguish the fire. Driver Operator Tarte charged the 1 3/4 line that FF Waugh had flaked out. AUGUST 21 - At 1629 on Saturday August, 20, 2011, E511B responded to a reported house fire on Featherbed Lane. Upon responding, Company 11 units could see a large column of smoke from the location of the fire. Arriving on scene, B501 established command.
